Don't ask don't tell is a stupid policy. It should just be don't ask. If someone wants to talk about their sexual orientation that's fine, but it isn't really anyone else's business. It should be the same expectations for conduct across the board and that should be good enough. People who are anti-gay should be the ones facing punishment, not gay people being forced to be silent about their sexual preference as if it were something to be ashamed of.
