Skaltezon, have you heard some of the earlier versions of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes?"
Here is
Irene Dunne singing "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" in the 1935 film adaptation of the 1933 operetta
Roberta, for which the song was written by American composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Otto Harbach. Irene Dunne's singing (which ends in sad, broken-hearted tears after a deleted breakup scene with her boyfriend) is followed by a bonus: Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire dancing to the same tune!
