You guys have to remember that Cube had the rhyming skills, the intensity and the style to be a top MC.
****, he was the playmaker for NWA and when he walked from the group, they were never the same.
Cube at one point was the be all and end all of hip-hop especially west coast hip-hop, however he let himself slip and the one time Compton Polices most wanted rapper became a mere shadow of himself, parodying himself in some awful movies.
This failed venture into acting as well as some sloppy releases led to a decline in Cube's popularity and credibility but you can't deny his earlier work.
And if there are people on here still talking as if Eminem and Jay-Z are two 'greats' then they should definitely put Cube in that category as he has had much the same climax in terms of quality of production as well as credibility within the hip-hop underground yet seems to get blasted for it way more than Em or Jigga.
