That seems logical at first, but what I've found is that even if the meals are prepared fried (and nobody said you can't just fry in peanut oil, healthy and delicious ), the ingredients make all the difference. Or at least much of the difference, portion is another big part of it. Although then again, with better ingredients less food is actually required to feel satisfied.

A lot of my points are anecdotal but I do recall research into this very subject I'll try to dig up. Ever wonder why the French stay so skinny with all that buttery pastry goodness?
