They say the Stone Roses self-titled was the album that started britpop. So, I guess that should be enough to get it on the top 5 list. Yes, britpop is a pretty vague term and genre but I would say the same about many other genres too.

I really like The Verve's Urban Hymns and Oasis' debut album. I guess these three would be the essential britpop albums for me.

Btw, does early Radiohead count as britpop?
