The Great Rock n Roll Swindle Soundtrack -

When it was released, this met with some decent sales but also a lot of apathy (although I think the film met with more apathy...maybe I'm wrong)- Time moved on, PiL was showing that there was life after Anarchy, a few Pistols collections (one an Interview album!) already wore out their welcome, and so on. Still, those who got it then were met with a classic mess. Orchestral versions of Pistols favorites, Tenpole's legendary "Who Killed Bambi?" performance, the French Street Musicians playing "Anarchy in the UK," the Disco Pistols medley (a car trip favorite!), Cook and Jones' "Silly Thing," the Pistols running crazy on covers of songs like "Substitute" and "Stepping Stone" (both the best covers and now among classic Pistols lists), Malcolm's singing "You Need Hands," and Sid's definitive version of "My Way." For a long time, this was an album that caught the eye, but still passed on for new happenings. Today, it's a cult classic. Save time for this after listening to the definitive Pistols album and collection of your choice, and then dive into the madness. Note, a couple of the tracks don't even appear in the film.
