Generally speaking I definitely agree with you on that. There are exceptions though, in my opinion. Some bands suit the outdoors, stadium or festival setting and really excel there. I thought AC/DC were pretty special when I saw them headline Donington a couple of years ago and I have seen Iron Maiden on a number of occasions now and enjoyed them at festivals more than I did arenas.
