I can understand the connection, but I think Dalek is more along the lines of shoegaze, drone and ambient. Other than their sound, I don't hear the Nu Metal connection beyond their sound of Absence. And, while Absence is maybe the heaviest hip hop record ever, the rest of their material is not nearly as dense. They're routinely used sitar and Miles Davis' samples and latest album is a 41 minute untitled piece with several moments of... banjo.

I know you said loosely, but it's just too loose for me.


Edit: I do agree with your connection to Death Grips. In fact I read an article about Death Grips as the "New Nu Metal". An interesting read.
