Kinda surprised to see nothing about the Moody Blues' role in the development of prog, especially the role that 'Days of Future Passed' played. Sure, it's not really a prog album in terms of song structure. But it features a somewhat abstract concept and the use of non-traditional rock instruments including the ultimate prog instrument, the mellotron.
I put it up there with Procol Harum's A Whiter Shade of Pale and Soft Machine's first album as the earlier examples of prog before 'In the Court' came out.
