Windsor, just on the other side of the Detroit river, is getting pretty downtrodden too from what I've heard, mostly from job losses in the auto industry in recent years. It's a smaller town, and the majority of people who live there are either students at the university or they work for Chrysler. I heard the Chrysler Assembly plant there (they make all the vans) is hiring again so that will be good for the town.
Yeah the Detroit suburbs are pretty rough. Unless you live in Bloomfield Hills, of course.
