one of the problems with the internet is the destruction of any type of artist mystique or myth, in the sense that all pop stars are now basically just a tweet away from their fans. it's very difficult to cultivate any type of rebellious 'bad boy' (or girl) image any more. everyone's more or less forced into playing the happy clappy pop star game it seems.

I suppose the closest to any kind of 'bad boy' pop star I've seen in the last decade is Pete Doherty. I don't like the guy at all or his music, but somehow he managed to pull off playing the pop star game, yet also seeming like a true vagabond/misfit/ner-do-well

however I think if your music is lame commercial dross, then any kind of bad boy image doesn't mean diddly scrumpet. bad boy pop star has to walk the walk and talk the talk...
