Default Update for week ending April 20 2014

As I write this update I'm speaking to you from beneath a huge mound of crumpled cardboard boxes and silver foil, with bits of discarded chocolate egg all around me. Yeah, I wish! Nah, I'm being good this year and not a piece of Easter Egg has passed my lips. But I hope you're all enjoying your Easter, and looking forward to the bank holiday, not that they mean anything to me any more.

So then, let's get on with the Easter update shall we, and see what you bunnies have been up to...

Having finished his little trip through childhood, (what do you call a young Anteater anyway?) it's reminsicences of a different sort for the bug-swallowing one in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...n-dollars.html as he waxes lyrical over a computer game he used to love

while Black Francis is being Guided by Voices. Not literally of course: he's looking at the band's work in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...l-journey.html

and Briks is down on Metallica in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...seur-cave.html, with harsh words for “Load” and “... and justice for all”. He ain't got good things to say about “Rocka rolla” by Priest either. He's in a mean mood this week, is our Briks! Someone get this man a Easter Egg! Stat!

Who would have thought Franco would be into booty? Well he's featuring it in his http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...epe-kalle.html, with songs by Bumba Sparxx and Rick James, among others.

Frownland is still http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...wnapilago.html, but at least he's enjoying a gig he went to by The Magic Band. Read all about it: he's really impressed!

And speaking of the stranded one, his own band's album, among others, has made it on to http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...ening-log.html, along with Aesop Rock, Badbadnotgood and Outkast. Well, Mick. Sort of OutKast. I think. What do I know? Check them out! Also Blackfoot (yay) though he hates it (boo!), Tipper, our own YorkeDaddy's band cloudcover (why does he not like this?) and Liz, whose album cover made me think her elbow was a tit --- tletattle, um...

Silenzio is listening to a Low Roar in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...mix-music.html

and I've just got the two journals updated this week. More prog top 100 albums in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...d-journal.html, with efforts from Laquesis and Leap Day, also a "Run for Cover" special on Motorhead's “Ace of spades” and a new section called “Lafftrak”, featuring the sillier side of music. Over at http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...-emporium.html French horror drama Les Revenants heads towards its conclusion while Futurama returns for season two.

Urban's back with “The Sensorites” in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...who-thing.html as well as every episode ranked --- not by him, by six thousand, seven hundred fans. Why such a precise number? Enquiring minds want to know. All right, I want to know.

And Unknown Soldier continues http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...y-history.html with Riot and one of my own personal favourites, The Tygers of Pan-Tang. Ah, memories!

You know what? **** it. I'm giving this to Franco this week. Could there be another post that encapsulates what the man is all about? Plus it made me laugh like a drain. And it mentioned Vanilla. Ten out of ten, man! This one's yours!

I love this song because I love booty so much. This song is the perfect there for booty lovers. I mean it puts the song saying Booty rocking everywhere. It is a genius song and it had then Ying Yang Twins who are dirty as hell. I enjoy this song because it gives girls confidence to shake that booty. Vanilla, this song is for you. If you have any bootylicious girls and love their booty. Please play this song.
Before I close I'd like to introduce a new section. This may not be weekly (probably won't be) but will be awarded every time I think a journal deserves it. Ladies, gentlemen, and those of you who are not sure or “would rather not say”, I give you...

This is a section where I will be highlighting the journal that has generated the most debate during that week. The one with the most posts about generally the same, or a related issue, by the most people. This is important, because not only does it mean that journal is being read and enjoyed, but it shows that the amount of work being put into it is being rewarded.

So, this week's inaugural “...interesting” award goes to
http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...who-thing.html
It's a while since I've seen this level of interest generated in any journal, with a real conversation going back and forth, and forum members who shall remain nameless unless you read the journal acting just like Doctor Who nerds should!

So keep it up, Urban! You're obviously hitting the right chords here. Long may it continue!

And so we come to the end of yet another update. You know, you'd think I'd be fed up with doing these by now, but I'm actually looking forward to next week's. Yeah, I know: there are places for people like me...

Till next week,
Toodles!
(And Happy Easter!)
