Depression is a physical imbalance not some made up disorder based on nothing to do with brain function. If depression was as simple as making a choice to get out of bed it wouldn't be an issue. I understand what you saying, at the end of the day that person makes a decision to off themselves but you have to question their state of mind at the time and figure out if it was a rational decision or something driven by the disorder. If it was because of the disorder I wouldn't necessarily call that a choice.
