I like how you acknowledge that you lost your patience, which we all do sometimes, and you explained that you wished you hadn't responded as you did.
I feel the kind of courteous honesty and self-moderation you demonstrated by apologizing benefits the forum greatly and, the more often it happens among mods and members alike, might even encourage some missing posters to return.
