Reading back through this, one thing that is particularly striking is the fact that male genital mutilation has been discussed in terms of how it looks and potential health benefits. That attitude is the issue as much as anything else.
It wouldn't be happening if females were not protected from birth against it. It would rightly be an outrage. Yet little boys are having their penis cut without their consent and it's not even against the law.
