Semantics, but I don't see beings "a" conservative (or "a" liberal) as just having views that are conservative (or liberal), I see it as someone who subscribes to the ideology and takes the conservative side on the major issues (which makes that a conflict with being "a" liberal).
That's not to say that one can't hold both conservative and liberal views, but we might call them a moderate rather than an ideologue (unless moderation is their ideology, middle ground fallacy ftw)
