I once ruined a friendship when I was 12 because I was such a tyrannical director. We were filming a circus scene involving a stuffed squirrel with the camcorder and we got into a heated argument about how exactly the squirrel should be hoisted into the air. (The squirrel was an aerial silks artist performing a routine to Chris Isaak's cover of "Dark Moon" which was playing on the boombox ,which was accompanied by our very bad keyboard playing. But Kayla wanted the squirrel to be some lowly trapeze artist.) We didn't speak for years.
Age 12 was great for me because I had little parental supervision AND a beautiful wolf dog. Things began to go sharply downhill once I entered middle school and discovered that boys (and girls) did NOT appreciate my courting methods, which included shrieking at them like a dinosaur and wearing increasingly bizarre outfits to class in hopes of getting their attention.
