I've never subscribed to the whole bottled-water snobbery. Tap water was what everyone used to drink in England and it would often be served grudgingly but free - until chic restaurants realised they could make money with bottled water instead. Perrier was the first on the market, and had the advantage of being French, which, in terms of cuisine, is seen as more sophisticated.
