^Probably the best answer for what the band is. Sabbath is a "Rock band" that plays in the
style of (what became known as) Heavy Metal or early 70s Hard Rock drawing in influences not only from Acid Rock (hard Psychedelic Rock) - and the other stuff mentioned above - but also Jazz, horror movie soundtracks, and the sounds of
heavy metal machinery from factories in Birmingham.
