He was trying to show the newer troops he still had what it takes, coming with us down range and doing our job, just being one of the guys type of thing. We had worked all day loading MLRS's onto semi trailers and were heading back up in our forklifts in a single file convoy line, when I noticed he was veering off to the right a little on a wide paved road with drainage ditches on either side. He was preoccupied with a conversation he was having with someone who happened to come up next to him, inadvertently making him move over a bit. He saw that he was gonna dump into the ditch so he jumped, but he jumped right in the path the forklift was falling. It killed him instantly, pushing guts out through his mouth nose and eyes. Squish.
