So what does everyone think about what the Sex Pistols' second album could have been? I'm a big anti-Sid guy cause Matlock was just better obviously and was their main songwriter, but with Rotten they wrote "Holiday in the Sun" and "Bodies", two songs that seem less tuneful than the songs they wrote with Matlock but given Rotten's work with PiL make more sense in that they were probably legit less tuneful purposefully. Like **** rock and just make noise.

Perhaps if they'd kept Matlock they'd have stayed "too tuneful" to the point that they'd have become obsolete as a retro rock band, whereas without him and with Rotten at the helm they could have been a fascinating noise rock post-punk whatever band whose second album could have made The Clash seem too traditionalist by comparison since they had at least equal name recognition and would therefore have been competing in the public eye for supremacy, and Johnny Rotten would absolutely have driven the band to ever more bizarre heights assuming he could have won out over McLaren.
