Yes, but it's still an issue that is very tied to race in a way and with issues that are different from the privilege of the middle/upper classes over the lower classes or other facets of the larger problem so it's still important to specify the racial aspect. I don't think it really matters why it's racebaity, the fact that it is automatically puts people on the defensive, as youve pointed out, which reduces the possibility for productive discussion. There's a time and a place for shoving something in the face of the oblivious and entitled beneficiary.
