TBH I love 70s and early 80s punk but after that a lot of hardcore jettisons the pop of 70s punk and doesn't replace it with anything as fun and so I turn to 80s thrash that takes that influence but throws in fun metal riffs.
I'm not saying you gotta love everything these bands ever did but in the early days they were doing great things with punk.
