Nothing Ever Was, Anyway: Music of Annette Peacock by by pianist Marilyn Crispell, bassist Gary Peacock, and drummer Paul Motian
Crispell’s intrepretation are very 20th C classical third stream while Peacock swings in a very distant kind of way but still more obviously rooted in jazz. Motian is extraordinarily intuitive. Every bit of percussion is brilliantly complimentary. Obviously this is an all star cast. You expect everyone to step up and they definitely do. This is a perfect beautifully cohesive record. Unassailable 5/5.
