Received a publishing contract for one, maybe three of my stories today. Sounds great huh? Until you read further and see that it's what's called a Contributory Contract, which means essentially they want me to pay part of the costs of publication. This comes to around three grand, which I don't have, and if I did have it, would be very wary of handing over on the off-chance I'd make enough sales to at least get it back.

Still, chuffed that a publishing house actually thought my stuff good enough to want to publish it. May take it elsewhere now.

Any advice or comments welcome. Not the worst day of my life, though it could have been so much better. Just looking at the contract sitting on my bed gives me a great feeling, even if I almost certainly won't be signing it.
