Progressive left (not the stale old European left which is more like the centre nowadays).

Probably the current Croatian president. He's a leftist but behaves pretty much exactly like Trump, trolling his enemies all day on the internet and generally filling the daily news with toxic macho bullshit. Truly repulsive character.

Gay marriage. I can't think of anything else as groundbreaking.

Urm, probably banning weapons for personal use, everywhere.
5. What do you believe to have been the worst mistake made by a politician in your city/state/country?
Croatian government allowing tourists to come freely last summer, which lead to a devastating post-summer pandemic wave. Unlikely Malaysia, which simply shut its borders and couldn't care less about its struggling tourism sector, we are poor, have no oil money and are heavily dependent on tourism to fill the government coffers. Hence...but what's a few thousand lives anyway?

Maybe the current mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, because she's badass, super intelligent, very considerate and genuinely seems to care about improving the lives of others. If only there were more politicians like her in the world people wouldn't be so disappointed in politics.
