Actually, Marie, New Yorkers are quite nice. They do have a blunt way of saying things when they think they've been crossed (getting cut off in traffic, somebody doing something stupid, etc). The stereotypes about NYC are from the pre-9/11 era. Al Qaeda effectively bombed all of the "attitude" out of that city. Now it's full of the fakest people in the country just like LA.
