Who likes a complicated menu?
Not me. I usually prefer a simple menu and simple food, though I once fell in with some more sophisticated diners. They would often give the waiters a hard time, as if being picky was proof of their refined taste. To undercut their pretension, if my friend saw hors d'ouvres on the menu, he would ask, "Who wants Horse's Doovers?"
Not today, but recently, I went to a Mexican restaurant, which has a great system: order some beers and a selection of food comes to the table. No need to choose a main dish, just snack on a continuous supply of dips, beans, chips, scrambled egg, tacos, etc etc.
