Album title: Pictures At an Exhibition
Artist: Emerson, Lake and Palmer (ELP)
Nationality: English
Label: Island
Chronology: Third
Grade: A
Factsheet: Another live album, therefore not eligible for inclusion, to say nothing of the fact that this is a treatment of a classical symphony, so in many ways doesn’t hold as much interest for a prog fan as, say,
Tarkus or
Brain Salad Surgery. My own aversion to ELP plays a little into this, but I think I’m justified in just mentioning and not reviewing it. I’m not all that familiar with the suite, so I doubt I could even make comments or judgements on how well, or badly, they pulled this off.
