Nirvana essentially killed hair metal. Simple lyrics maybe, but an entire generation of kids and young adults took notice. Nirvana was to Rock n Roll in the 1990s what Led Zepplin was to Rock N Roll in the late 60s early 70s. It was a revolution. Kurt Cobain had heart and that was something that the hair bands didn't/never had.....this is of course my opinion.
I remember Nirvana before they were big (I live in the Seattle area) and I knew they were going to go far because they didn't try to copy any other bands. Influenced by other bands maybe, but never copied.
