It is heavily steeped in dance culture, because the average indie Joe probably isn't going to enjoy a disco album except for the irony factor.

Plus, if you read Sherburne's review, he does think those are good songs, so difference in tastes aside, you probably could make an argument that someone more involved in the scene does think those songs are good, and not "bad music, period." I have yet to hear anyone else really weigh in on those songs in particular though, so maybe Sherburne is alone liking those.

Also, a lot of this album really would fit right in with what a lot of big name DJs are doing these days, so I'd say it has more in common with the "electro scene" than it does with Pitchfork indie.
