2. Brand New "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me (2006)"
Brand News latest release shows them having matured in every way. Musically, lyrically, vocally they sound like an entirely different band from when they first started out. This album, which is full of religiously themed songs and self-depreciating words all sung by frontman Jesse Lacey. An american boy who tries to sing like Morrissey but is too pissed off to do so. The band takes influences from so many places in this album its really hard to pick them out. Theres some obvious hardcore influences, some Modest Mouse influences ( very apparent in the slide on Jesus), as well as some Smiths/Morrissey influences, they're all over the map on this album.
