I think the basic idea put here is an interesting premise. It's a good observation. The celebrities who pervade the media are often ones who actually do very little actual work in their respective field (like Pete Doherty for example, and many actors/actresses) and spend most their time just getting publicly involved in the latest absurd escapade in order to build a career off of the media instead. It is attention whoring of the highest degree. In fact it's even MORE worthy of being called "whoring" because there's a SH1TLOAD of money involved, whereas your average "attention whore" doesn't make a red cent.
And Paris Hilton is most definitely a celebrity. A celebrity is simply a famous or widely-acknowledged person who continuously (as in for a sustained long period) commands a high degree of both media attention and public attention.
