The idea in a band situation is to give each instrument its own place. When you're in your bedroom no mids full treble and bass can sound alright, but it will sound horribly thin when you try to play along with other people.

i used to do it when i was about 14
no one could hear me when i played leads and chords were just a big wall of sonic mush
then i sold that nice fender red knob super 60
coz...it wasnt hardcore enough (shakes head) i was such a fool
