I don't think the tag of "king of rock and roll" is really valid, but I think Chuck Berry is by far the greatest of the 1950's rockers, so he gets my vote.
You know that old challenge: a Martian lands on Earth and wants to know what rock and roll is. What song do you play them? Let's be honest; there's no better definition of "rock and roll" than Johnny B. Goode.
