for me its a toss up between joy division and the smiths
while the stone roses first album is genius....they havent really done anything else of any worth...
the smiths have an incontestable body of work
the queen is dead and meat is murder are near faultless for me
and morrissey and marr have gone on to do awesome things
while joy division are one of the most enigmatic and brilliant bands i have ever heard with two fantastic albums
no one can possibly sound like joy division
and the band went on to form new order
who also kick ass...
