Werckmeister harmóniák (2000) by Hungarian director Bela Tarr has a beautiful score.

A very challenging movie to watch because it is REALLY slow (Tarr also directed the movie Sátántangó, which was over 7 hours long).

I don't want to give away to much but there is a scene where the mob destroys the local hospital almost in complete silence, no grunting or screaming, you can only hear the sound of things being broken. It ends when the mob discovers an old man, and at this point the music comes on... This scene has really benn branded into my mind, I can recall it so vividly.

Check it out if you are into art house films!
