Cash is f*cking awesome. His earlier stuff does lack some diversity but that's true for most rock n roll and country music from that era. He isn't tacky at all, except maybe when he goes gospel.

Old country music deserves more props, the themes in those old country songs were a lot more dark, depressing and f*cked up than what was going on in rock n roll at the time. It wasn't the sugar coated sh*t that passes as country today.
