I'm going to try to answer this without writing a book. :p

The answer for me is yes and no. In the past on forums I've posted on I find myself trying to keep a neutral opinion on things before listening to them. I usually have the opposite problem that you're having. Normally things that are liked by a majority of people I tend to dislike. Its not that I want to be different from everyone else, its that people tend to over hype so many bands that you go into it expecting great and wind up a bit disappointed. I try to just do my own thing and keep other peoples opinions away from mine.

I can see how where you're coming from, but overall, I avoid this most of the time.

I guess the last two lines of Urbans post sums up what I'm trying to say. Even though I am guilty of being a fanboy myself. I don't push the musician on others though. At least I try not to.
