Haha, please don't reduce Indie kids to a counter-culture.

I can understand if people don't like The Arcade Fire, but dislike them because they're monotonous? Blasphemy. I've heard Win Butler go from crooning softly to singing his heart out in one song. They use dynamics a lot, maybe you just weren't paying close enough attention. Some songs change suit drastically. When they were writing "Crown of Love," maybe they were thinking, "Wouldn't it be interesting to go from a ballad to...Guess what? A DISCO." Amazingly enough, it works out for them.

But anyway, the best thing about The Arcade Fire are their live shows. They have so much energy. The drummers use almost every part of the stage as a drumset, including the scaffold twenty feet high and...Each other. With crash helmets. Regine Chassagne sure can rock out to the accordian, too.
