The point is, in the time children grow up they have different phases in which they lean more toward the father or toward the mother. I'm not sure what causes this and I'm not sure which parts of the father and mother are of interest to their education/upbringing.
I'm not sure whether it's really a problem that there's an actual father and mother, or a father and mother figure.
What I do know is that in my experience, boys who are raised by two mothers (and I know two of them) are a bit soft, seem a bit gay in their behaviour. Something like that might cause some problems with social acceptance.
I'm not sure about these things, it's all pretty hypothetical.
