The Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) (great songs, album, Nirvana, Paul McCartney)

Abbey Road is great but for some reason I never put it on-- I listen to Let It Be much more than Abbey Road-- even though I admit Abbey Road is probably a superior album. I just like the stripped down feeling that the Beatles were moving towards.

I think if they had made another album it would've been along the lines of The Band.

Dont agree with your review of I Want You (Shes so heavy), amazing song, but apart from that, pretty accurate. The novelty songs prevent it from being truely epic

Sun King is my favorite Beatles tune of all time. I don't know if I want it to be longer or enjoy how short and sweet it is. All I know is I'd love for another band to do their own take on it!

I hate Let It Be, while Abbey Road is my favorite. I agree with your second comment though. Ive always wanted to make a mix of the fours' solo work afterward and make another "Beatles" album.

I agree with Let It Be being mostly terrible.

Also, to set the record straight, The Beatles were not "moving towards" a more stripped down sound at the time that they broke up. That would be to assume that Let It Be was their last work. It wasn't. It just so happens that it was released subsequent to Abbey Road, but much of it was recorded beforehand. Their true final full piece of work is Abbey Road.

6th favourite album for me behind Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, Rubber Soul, The White Album and Magical Mystery Tour.

It being The Beatles, most of the songs are brilliant, but I still think it's a bit overrated. It shows off George's best sides though.

Definitely a monumental album. A great way for the Fab 4 to exit the world's stage as The Beatles. They knew it was going to be their last combined effort and actually jammed and recorded much of the album together, which they were not doing the past few years. Eclectic and full of contrast. Timeless...

Enjoyable enough to listen to once or twice a year. I much prefer the disjointedness of the White Album and the jangly guitars of Rubber Soul/Revolver. Any of you check out Coroner's version of "I Want You"? It would make Lennon proud.
