I'm wondering whether people think this album has him going more commercial than Dusty Foot Philosopher--I read some reviews that claimed so. Personally, I think it is as good as Dusty Foot...

Well it would make sense that Troubador would be his more commercial album as Dusty Foot was his debut while he was relatively unknown. He had 4 years for critics and fans to absorb Dusty Foot and begin to anticipate his new album. My only major concern is that he doesn't let the success get to his head. I think Gift of Gab put it best in the song Deception "If you're blessed with a talent/ utilize it to the fullest/ be true to yourself/ and stay humble"

When they say 'more commercial' they mean a change in musical direction to appeal to a more mainstream audience, which shouldn't be influenced by the expectations of critics.

I've listened to a few of the songs from Troubadour, and there is a bit of merit to the suggestion, mainly because the tone seems less cynical and bitter. But the songs still sounded good after a first listen.

The first thing even close to hip-hop or rap I have ever listen to and liked, thank you. Once I have the time I'm defenitly getting this album.

Yeah, finding the lyrics is a hassle to say the least.

Gorgeous booklet, but not a lot of information, though he does have some of his lyrics up on his webpage.
