I just realized that the 1971 lists are severely lacking What's Going On.

Probably because It's essentially pretty boring on repeat, at least for me.

My lists are extremely cringe worthy upon reflection, but I only took 10 minutes on every year.

Boring how? The album does have a similar tone throughout, but I think the subtle changes are what make it great as a whole album.

I dunno man, I just know I didn't enjoy it that much. Never been my favourite genre/style to be honest.

i do like "album", as opposed to "singles" soul records

Isaac Hayes' Hot Buttered Soul is fantastic

I guess I could see that, but for me, once i start the album i can't stop it, and once it's over i really wanna hear it again. But I'm the same way about Smile too, except sometimes i'll just wanna hear one side.

@OP: 1973 list that doesn't include Dark Side of the Moon = an incomplete list IMO. Nice that you chose Tago Mago somewhere though.

Give us some more streetwave, this is a pretty interesting thread that seems to be hijacked by some people who are missing the point. I'd encourage everyone to make their own thread similar to this, that'd be cool to see more threads like this but in their own.
