Default Portugal The Man - Evil Friends

Quote:
“Creep In A T-shirt” on this album is top-level rock n roll. Piano, fast tempo, and just overall amazing rock n roll music. The piano with the rock n roll sounds is amazing. “Atomic Man” another above-average type of rock n roll song, with groovy tempo, and cool bass. This was the band's best album I felt, that is why I am reviewing it, in case someone reads and wants to listen to it. I’ll have the Spotify playlist embedded into the HTML like always so people can listen to 30-second samples. “Hip-hop kids” probably one of the most creative rock songs on this song. Slightly harder compares to the band Oasis but just the American version. Alaskan to be exact, which I knew, but forgot and had to wiki search that. The band is currently based out of Portland, Oregon now though. This album is titled “Evil Friends”, but I don’t understand what is so evil? Because lots of the lyrics are the opposite. I wouldn’t jam to a crazy-ass album titled “Evils Friends” if it were truly evil and didn’t give off awesome positive rock vibes.

“Holy Roller (Hallelujah)” also an awesome, strong song to point out because this songs hook is catchy. “Evil Friends” is a song I am now listening to carefully because the song rocks a lot, it speeds up as the song goes on. The drums on “Evil Friends” and how it has the women singing the background on the hook, that was great. Give off a feel of a different generation of music, not sure if 1970s or 1960s. When the slow part gets finished on “Evil Friends”, the tempo changes faster, and is a great song.

The album does have songs that are great but just not as great at others. The album is a five out of five stars on my scale because I wouldn’t type about an album that didn’t mean so much to me in my life. “Modern Jesus”, lyrics are pretty deep, and I often wonder what they mean by them but it’s a catchy rock song. I think it was a single because the video is out on YouTube and is cool. Just read on the wiki page that Danger Mouse the producer was involved with this album and his production is awesome. If you like the 1960s and 1970s rock, this album does give off that type of vibe too. How this band started with me was when my cousin Justin, said he liked the band, then I saw them online and watched. After a couple of years, they won a grammy. The song that won a grammy isn’t on this album but it’s still a great song. This band has had many members for many years but it’s a groovy album and they make good music.

This album was released in 2013, I didn’t catch a vibe to this until around 2014-and then just going further many times listening to it more. I noticed that the first song is the longest and not the best, but the rest of the album is normal time amount for each song. The piano on “Waves” is also, the guitar playing as the song starts with the piano, just gives it rock n roll vibes.
