Just to be clear, I'm not lamenting his departure, rather yet another attention whoring thread about leaving.

Oh and I'm not very fond of people who abandon a modship after only a few months, it's a tad ungrateful. The place hasn't changed that much since he's been modded so I'd guess he wasn't too keen on it back when he accepted it. I didn't say nuthin' back then (although you'll notice a lack of any enthusiasm on my part when he was modded) but from the response in this thread, I'd say I'm not the only one who thought he was quite abrasive and distinctly un-modlike material. Guess I wasn't wrong after all.

So yeah, so long and stuff. :\

Well, not every Justice a legend, not every mod a change agent.

Sometimes people are up there to ward off the trash that ruins the forums.

I'll say though, announcing your departure is weak.

I like sam. As I've said already, his nature reflects honesty, IMO.
And you're not one to speak Marijan. When was the last time you won the MB Mr. Tactful title?

As for his length of stay.
Well, far better for him to stand down now, than cling to the mod spot just for the sake of it and make a token appearance once in a blue moon.
And we've had a few of those in the past.

I think there's such a thing as mod syndrome.

I know I've suffered from it on occasions in the past and I suspect one or two others have too.
When modding MB becomes detrimental to your enjoyment of the boards.
I found myself logging on out of a perceived sense of responsibility.

I don't think this is "attention whoring", he's just saying goodbye. Why not? Obviously this community meant something to him.

I guess I just have a problem with abrupt and public departures. Why not just stop coming here, send a resignation PM to the relevant authorities and a few PMs to people you care about? Not enough publicity and ego-stroking, I'd say. And why the absolute break? Why not just stop posting/replying to and/or reading threads/posts you don't feel like reading or responding to? To me, it feels like a very childlike tantrum, people don't agree with him (in the last few weeks) so he's going away, forever and ever and we'll never see his face here again for as long as we all live and he hopes we all have good lives because he sure as goddamn will. *sourpuss*

And really, isn't it kind of telling that on a music forum as big as this, with all these different people, he can't find some whom he likes and agrees with and likes to read and talk to? Sure he can, and isn't that enough to keep you around? It should be. It's what keeps me around. I don't write much, and I follow only what a few people have to say about anything.

And this change in attitude happened in the last few weeks? Tan....trum.

Or maybe I just don't like his face. :|

i like this advice...i think someone gave it here: if you're leaving, and thinking about making a departure thread--don't.
