It has nothing to do with him.

there's a thread with seven pages of discussion that was created purely for the purpose of talking about him, and you're telling me he's a footnote? honestly i couldn't care less, i'm just wondering why MB has caught the drama fever over this dude.

Yes, exactly. Also, no one has ever told Vanilla to stop. Multiple people told Dirty to stop multiple times. I'm sure if I PMd Vanilla that she was going a little over the top, she would stop.

Just to let everyone know, Dirty has admitted upon first arriving he really liked messing with people. He also said while he still likes to push buttons, he has tried to legitimately contribute recently. He worked himself into a hole, no doubt - but he has expressed frustration about being provoked because of that hole. The ban and the attention his ban has gotten I think is enough...when he comes back let's just see if he learned and NOT provoke him.

With the regulars being so tight knit here, it isn't surprising gossip and drama are popular things. Everyone loves a good controversy.

I agree, especially in forums like the Lounge and Shout Box, (I can do without all the drama myself), one reason I stay mostly in the music forums.

He is. This is about what happened. I.e. could it happen to them. Don't be fooled by the title, this is self-concern with a bit of gossip.

I think you're absolutely right.

I should add that almost all of the posters here have shown that they, at least marginally, have the good sense to know where to draw the line in regards to what's appropriate and inappropriate.

Yeah, we do make sexual innuendos, flirt, and what not here and I'm not saying that it should stop, but almost all of us know that if, like VEGANGELICA alluded to, we don't have something of a rapport with the person that is the object of our joke, then we should at least be somewhat aware of where to draw the line.

As human beings existing in a society you are expected to make the distinction between appropriate and inappropriate behavior everyday and act accordingly, and almost all of you do so quite naturally. There should be no reason why a person's behavior on an internet forum should be an exception to this.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, please don't worry about this. All of the people that are concerned about moderator retribution have shown through their participation in this forum that they are valued members of the MB community and basically know how to behave like a Homo Sapien.

As the starter of the original thread which led to all this, let me say that all the mods here and especially Satch have hit the nail on the head. I didnt make that thread to ridicule another member, it was just a light hearted spur of the moment thing. In assuming everyone would know where to draw the line, I have erred. I shouldn't have ever taken the chance. Especially with a female poster of only 16! Now Pavement Saw, obviously I joke around a lot, but I'd like to offer a sincere E-pology for putting you into this and starting this whole weird ordeal.

There is a simple rule that applies here.

If you see a 'harsh' banning, don't bother starting a thread about it. Just remind yourself that as well as the reason for the ban they were also banned for either ignoring our pleas or getting on our tits for several weeks or months at least.

We're only human, you constantly needle us and you will get a reaction.

And that is the reason why 99% of all 'harsh' bannings look harsh.

Got that now?

Good.

Every interesting member this board's ever had has been banned. There's still a bevy of smart, whatever people, but anyone with a big personality is cut loose.
