^ And when you`ve voted for November`s theme, there are two new polls in the Country, Folk and World Music forum:-

To choose the next album in The Folk And International Roots Album Club :-

To pass judgement on Mamani Keita`s album, Gagner L`argent Francais :-

It's No-Wave Week!

"No Wave was a short-lived movement in NYC in the late 70's which took the ethics of punk but discarded melody and catchiness and replaced them with such features as extreme noise, distortion, feedback, angular rhythms, stream-of-conciousness lyrics, psychotic vocals, minimalism, abnormal tunings, dissonance and other unusual factors. The original movement essentially lasted from 1976-1979 and featured bands like Teenage Jesus & the Jerks, Mars, DNA and James Chance & The Contortions. The most well-known document of the era is the Brian Eno-produced No New York compilation."

The Music Banter General Album Club

Is accepting album nominations for November's theme: Albums from 1971. A lot of classics came out of this year, so it should be a great club!

It's Lovers Rock Week!

"Lovers Rock is a smooth, quieter reggae beat with lyrics focusing on romance and love. Its origins lay in the UK with the producer Dennis Harris and his recordings with artists on his Lovers Rock label from which the genre gained its name. It was seen as an alternative to Roots Reggae and its heavy lyrics and style which was popular at the time. As it developed, it became popular back in Jamaica where older reggae artists embraced it as a way to broaden their appeal and attract new fans."
