Are We Welcoming Enough To New People?

roxy.... you just responded to a topic he brought up, then got mad that he responded back with a totally fine response. i think itd be best for u to lighten up or just ignore him

as for the actual issue or question. sometimes rarely i will welcome a n00b. the ones who stay are usually ones who have been part of forums before. they understand 'forum culture' or whatevs. ive been on message boards for like 12ish yrs and most others here have too. over time ya just see so so so many n00bs who never stick around so it just feels so much like an energy waste to welcome n00bs cause so few stay anyways

Actually doll, I was responding to Vanilla and Pedestrian more then anything.

I am ticked because out of all the responses he chose to repeatedly go after me. I can make an ambiguous post, in response to a topic no need to single me out to respond to when other people have said what I said and what I didn't say and did more eloquently then I did. He just wants to have his discussion with me, and I don't want to have it with him.

point was you were respondin to a topic he brought up and he said nothin remotely out of line. so just put him on ignore if its that big of a deal to you. sorry it reminds me of smeenus and me where if i say basically anythin even hintin towards anything hes ever said he will start gettin all angry lol. i think itd be best for u to put wpn on ignore. im just steppin in with my pointless thoughts cause i know how things work here. mob mentality gets outta hand pretty quick

I don't post in welcome threads but always make an effort to welcome new posters and get them talking if they post in other areas of the site.

Problem is if they are spam accounts their posts get deleted so you end up looking like you're talking to yourself which is a bit

Up until now, I had the impression that you just didn't want to discuss anything with people that disagreed with you.

You are of course fine to say that you don't like me (and I add that I don't understand your reasoning for believing so), but what I really don't understand is why you get mad at me for simply replying to what you said; this is a public forum after all, and granted that I'm still allowed to post here I will continue to reply to anyone I want to have a discussion with.

If you have a problem then just ignore me.

I'll say it again, I personally don't have a problem with you as a person.

There's more ways to look at my posts than assuming I'm arrogant and I dislike you (which I don't).

Try looking at it like this: I think you are one of the more intelligent people on here, and your responses are very well-thought-out and I like that. I therefore like to have discussions with you more than other people. Also, I don't find anything wrong with your music interests which is also a factor.

That's easily determined. Just look at their other posts and if they're all less than 2 sentences or just making generic comments chances are they probably are spammers.

I see that all the time here. They get their 15 posts and then BAMF! Sir Spamsalot strikes again.

It's just common courtesy to welcome people into a place that one calls 'home'. I'll usually wait and see what they're here for first, and if they seem legit, I'll give em a welcome, and (try to) see where their music tastes are at. 90% of the time, I'm wasting my breath though. Using a little common sense, and having at least a drop of sincerity is really all it takes.

I never said you disliked me. I said I dislike your posts.

See unfortunately for myself I am 99% sugar. And it's all in how you approach me. If you had come at me in a way that showed that you actually were interested in discussing things with me, this wouldn't have ever been an issue. In stead you came at me in this way "Blah blah blah I just wanna argue cause I ain't got **** to do except jerk off in this sock blah blah blah..."

The internet has a way of muddling up peoples meanings, which is why I take the time I do in responding to people. Because it's almost never that I don't like the person, it's that I don't like what they said.

Most of you all thought I was yelling just now and mad. No, it was simply a firm statement. Leave me alone. That's it. Read it for what it was. A simple factual statement.
