Find an abandoned barn or warehouse. Rent a PA system, party strobe lights, etc. Provide plenty of glow sticks. Make it BYOB. Charge at the door. If you feel you're not ready for an abandoned barn, then start off small. Use your friend's basement.

Start every interaction with this very phrase: "I think of very highly of my music."

you got a band, or are you alone?
Do you have any demos?
Are you keen on playing live or do you want to promote only the recorded stuff?

What is your target audience?

Contact your professor at the academy and ask him or her if you could be introduced to their inner circle.
